May’s Hawaii Kalua Pork Mac and Cheese

Mac and CheeseThis isn’t your keiki’s mac and cheese.  Casserole dishes always mean comfort food.  And nothing says adult comfort food more than our May’s Hawaii Kalua Pork Mac and Cheese.  The deep smoky flavors of the May’s Hawaii Kalua Pork married to a great Cheddar and  Italian cheese mix make this a dish worth slowing down for.  Easy to make, and definitely easy to overeat, out May’s Hawaii Kalua Pork Mac and Cheese will make you feel like a keiki again.

May’s Hawaii Kalua Pork Mac and Cheese

  • 12oz May's Hawaii Kalua Pork
  • 8oz Macaroni, Dried and Short
  • 2 tablespoons Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Flour
  • .75 cup Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder
  • 4oz Chedder Cheese, Shredded
  • 4oz Italian Blended Cheese, Shredded
  • Salt and Pepper


Step 1
Bring water to boil in pot. Season with 2 Tbsp. salt and boil dry pasta until al dente, or cooked to preferred doneness. Drain pasta by straining through a strainer. After drained, hold pasta back in pot.
Step 2
In a medium sauce pan, melt 1 Tbsp. butter, and then sprinkle flour over it to create a roux. Whisk butter and flour mixture into a paste. After whisk in the milk slowly, thickening it with flour and butter mixture. (Roux) Add garlic powder and bring to a boil. Stir in both shredded cheeses. Stir until all the cheeses have melted and the sauce becomes smooth. Last stir in May’s Hawaii Kalua Pork into cheese sauce mixture.
Step 3
Pour the May's Hawaii Kalua Pork and Cheese sauce mixture into pot with drained cooked pasta. Stir together and mix thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, pour May's Hawaii Kalua Pork Mac and Cheese mixture into a baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until cheese browns on top.
